We will pick you up directly from the entrance door of your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh; you will recognize our driver by a sign with your name in his hand. During our way northwards you can already gain some impressions about the Egyptian landscape; of course we will make stops whenever you need.

Today you will first of all visit the old capital Memphis with its ruins, the fallen colossal statue of Pharaoh Ramesses II and the Alabaster Sphinx. Furthermore we will show you Saqqara, the ancient graveyard of Memphis, with its monumental graves – various mastabas (flat-roofed, rectangular tombs) and pyramids – among them Pharaoh Djoser’s famous more than 4,600 years old Step Pyramid. And you can not only visit tombs, but, if you like, also the Imhotep Museum which, named after the Djoser’s great architect, features a lot of ancient items found here and teaches the visitors about the ancient Egyptian architecture.

Then we will move to Dahschur, a royal necropolis, containing numerous pyramids and graves. The most impressive ones are those built by the Pharaoh Snofru who wanted to leave the concept of the step pyramids behind and instead construct what we understand today as true pyramid. As the first trial, nowadays known as the Bent Pyramid due to its shape (the upper part is built at a shallower angle), did not turn out to be as he imagined, he started a second project, this time successfully: the Red Pyramid, so called because of its color, is a masterpiece of architecture and had the smooth-sided form he was wishing for. It is not only beautiful and well preserved until today, but also still carries a lot of secrets as the grave of its owner has until now not be found. Ant it is extremely large – only Cheops and Chephren (by the way Pharaoh Snofru’s son and grand-son!) managed to build larger ones: their famous pyramids in Giza.

Another pyramid to be seen is the Black Pyramid, unfortunately highly damaged according to insufficient building materials, a low location that allowed water to seep into the walls and the myriads of corridors, dug without installing enough stress relievers to hold up the ceilings. These structural problems led to instability and the building cracked. Anyway it is an impressive (and a bit creepy) sight that is worth a look.

In the afternoon we will take lunch and then continue our trip in Giza by visiting the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx. Be impressed by this last surviving of the Seven Wonders of the World, built more than 4.500 years ago as everlasting monumental graves for the Pharaohs Cheops, Chephren and Mykerinos and still an architectonic secret. And share a smile with the mystique Sphinx, mixture of a Pharaoh’s head and a lion’s body. If you like, you can optionally ride on a camel, enter a pyramid or visit the ‘Solar Boat Museum’ – near the Great Pyramid you can visit the huge legendary ‘Solar Boat’, a piece of extraordinary engineering art, in which Pharaoh Cheops, builder of the Great Pyramid, wanted to sail through the underworld.

In the evening you will travel back to your hotel in Sharm El Sheikh.
